The Woodstock Festival of 1969 was a game-changer. Etched in history as the hippy event of the era, Woodstock was a ceremonial end to the swinging ’60′s, a pivotal moment in music history, and a profound union of the counterculture generation. I’ve always been drawn to the bohemian style of the sixties and seventies, and the Woodstock festival was the defining celebration of this style and spirit. Billed as “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music”, the festival took place in New York state, with around half a million people in attendance – the essence of a generation all captured on film in the 1970 documentary ‘Woodstock’. That hippy spirit is still flourishing almost 50 years on and so is much of the fashion……!
