Celebrating National Tree Day

Arnhem sustainable eco-friendly clothing celebrates National Tree Day 2021

Sunday 1st August is National Tree Day 2021. National Tree Day started in 1996 and has grown into Australia's largest community tree-planting and nature care event.

Trees are an important source of life-giving oxygen, regulating our climate and water cycles, providing wildlife habitat and even the clothes that we wear. This is why we are choosing to celebrate National Tree Day, noting the significant role that trees play at sustaining life on earth, and raising awareness for critically endangered forests that are in desperate need of our help.

Our core fibres  here at Arnhem and derived from trees. The trees are grown in certified renewable, responsibly, and sustainably managed forests. In fact, timber that doesn’t make the cut for things like furniture, is given purpose as botanic fibres that we use to make beautiful clothes.

We are proud to say that we are Deforestation Free; meaning, our clothes don't cost the earth. Our treasures don’t come from ancient, or endangered forests, or controversial sources. And by controversial we’re talking forests of high conservation value, or that contain endangered species, or trees that are genetically modified, and we absolutely do not harvest from forests of cultural significance.

The beautiful Stella Teadress above is made from Lenzing™ Ecovero™ - branded fibres made from trees like Beech, Eucalyptus, Spruce, Birch & a few other species. And we're proud to say that even though we're harvesting trees, in fact we're actually Greening The Planet!

For the survival of our planet we can’t just plant trees, we must restore forests.

Our fibres are sustainably sourced from Lenzing™ who through forest restoration exceed the number of trees harvested by a third! That’s right – we’re planting 33% more trees than we take.

Restoration Nation – You Can Get Involved!

By shopping our Arnhem X Rainforest Rescue 'It’s In Our Hands' Charity Tee.

Since launch, together we’ve planted 508 trees in the new native nursery that aims to restore the Daintree rainforest here in Australia. But we still want to plant more trees and let them grow old together ~ as a gift to Mother Earth and future generations.

For every Tee purchased we Plant 2 Trees in the Native Nursery in conjunction with our beloved partner Rainforest Rescue!

Planting trees can have a huge impact. It can restore the earth, tackle climate change, contributing to the wellness of our global community, and our own wellbeing.

For more about how your tee donation will be used read the interview with Branden of Rainforest Rescue, who shares more on this inspiring project, some of their dreams for the future and some of the challenges they face in realising this ambitious restoration program at the Daintree - READ NOW.

But sadly, there are still those who can’t see the forest for the trees!

Globally
The Amazon rainforest is now emitting more CO2 than it can absorb. Most of the emissions are caused by fires, many deliberately set to clear land for beef & soy production. Losing the ability of the Amazon to capture CO2 is a warning we must take urgent climate action – now.

And Locally
We are losing Australia’s largest temperate rainforest. Tasmania’s ancient Takayna / Tarkine rainforest is under threat from acid mine drainage, deforestation, and contamination of waterways by proposed new mines.

Tell the Australian Environment Minister to take action and protect the forests, climate and wildlife.
