Meet Orchid, one of our most-loved muses.

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF…
My name is Orchid, I was born in the UK and moved to Australia 7 years ago. What a wonderful country we live in and Byron Bay is my ultimate favourite place to live!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LIVING IN BYRON BAY?
What I love most about Byron Bay is that life quite literally slows down, that feeling you get when you’re on holiday, I feel like I have that every weekend - that’s my favourite feeling.

WHAT ARE YOUR MOST CHERISHED DAILY RITUALS?
Beach walks in the morning with my puppy Peggy Jude, followed by my morning coffee. I also love that time of day where the sun is almost setting but not quite there yet, where everything glows ✨

WHAT’S THE ONE THING THAT YOU MISS MOST FROM THE UK?
The biggest thing that I miss is my loved ones: I would give anything to fly and give them all a big fat cuddle, and never let them go right now. Such testing times, but we are all in it together. I also LOVE Christmas, my fave time of year at home in the UK - mulled wine and cosy knits 🙊

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE FROM OUR PAINTED HEARTS COLLECTION AND HOW HAVE YOU BEEN STYLING IT?
My favourite piece from Painted Hearts has to be the Harmony Playdress in Srawberries & Cream 🍓 I love to wear this casually to my morning coffee paired with my trucker hat and white Supergas - I think I’ve worn a million times since launch!

Our girl Kayla joined Orchid on a tour of her favourite spots in our hometown - Byron Bay, capturing the magic so we could share it with you, this is where we went...

SPOT #1 🍴 The Byron Bay General Store
The perfect meeting spot, located on the road out of town heading towards Broken Head, this cute little spot is definitely on the locals list because of its local, fresh organic offerings, approach to sustainability and super cool vibe. Our girl Kayla met Orchid here for a quick acai bowl served in one of our fave Coconut Bowls to power up before heading into town for the day.

SPOT #2 🌻 Nikau Store
A play that sparks joy and creativity, Nikau store is an emporium of botanical wonder, beautiful ceramics, boutique homewares and sustainable lifestyle pieces. Because of their approach to supporting artisans, slow living and the transformative romance of the most beautiful blooms, Nikau is one of Orchid’s most frequented stores located in the heart of Byron Bay.

SPOT #3 🌏 Arnhem Clothing
Perfectly positioned on one of only two main roads in Byron, the Arnhem boutique is located on Lawson Street. In love with the delicious hues of Strawberries and Cream, Orchid popped into our boutique to try on her two favourite silhouettes: the Harmony Strappy Dress and the Harmony Teadress. As a lover of sustainable fashion, Orchid is an in-store VIP: “Knowing that what you buy makes a difference, from a brand that is committed to a sustainable future, makes your purchase worth so much more.”

SPOT #4 🌱 Combi
In need of some light lunch before we hit the beach, Orchid chose Combi as the place that she loves to catch up with friends for chats and healthy treats. A wholesome hotspot for locals and tourists alike, Combi offers a vibrant organic menu packed with pesticide and chemical free delights, raw superfood smoothies, Fair Trade coffee, healthy elixirs and all the treats you need to ensure you stay beautiful inside and out. We had the Greenie Plus vegan and gluten free smoothie, with kale, spinach, cucumber, spirulina, brazil nuts and raw fermented protein powder. With the most decadent, guilt-free, raw beetroot brownie made on fresh almond pulp topped with avocado frosting, strawberries and coconut – delicious!

SPOT #5 💦 The Pass Lookout
After shopping in town it’s time to embrace the beauty of Byron, so we wandered with Orchid along the shores of the bay to the famous lookout at The Pass. One of her favourite, and may we say most breathtaking spots, from the lookout you get the best panorama taking in the surfers, across the turquoise waters of the bay to the Wreck and beyond to the hinterland and Mount Warning, spinning around to take in Julian Rocks and the heavenly bay of Wategos.

SPOT #6 🐚 The Pass
The pure white sand at The Pass literally squeaks underfoot as you walk, because of its perfectly rounded grains that are almost quartz like in nature. You will never grow tired of this iconic beach border by pandanus trees and healthy beautiful people. The warm salty air and rhythmic sound of waves lulls you into a dreamlike state. Situated on a marine reserve it’s not uncommon to see dolphins and turtles punctuating the line-up of surfers, and from May to November migrating whales even stop in the bay to say hello. With the incredible hinterland backdrop it’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset on another incredible day in the bay.

We decided to cycle around Byron to minimise our carbon footprint, take in the vista, avoid the traffic and save money on parking – seriously sustainable on so many levels!
