Sustainable production has always been at the forefront of everything we do here at Arnhem Clothing, guided by the fundamental personal ethics of founder, Arnhem Bickley.
Having lived completely off the grid with her family in a teepee for the first 15 years of her life, Arnhem has a very unique perspective of and appreciation for sustainable living, and a heightened awareness of sustainable practice in business.
This environmental consciousness which exists alongside her passion for creativity and fashion has led to a strong culture of sustainability, which has grown hand-in-hand with the business from the outset.
When demand for her product became too great for local production, Arnhem hand-selected family owned and operated overseas factories in Bali with long-term employees. Arnhem Clothing has been working with them for 12 years, and together the businesses have flourished. Factory staff have the option to work from home if they have children to care for and all employees still enjoy social and traditional activities. The factories are of high standards with air conditioning, well paid and happy employees and well-regulated recycling systems in place for waste. All left over fabrics are made into garments and donated to the nursing homes and orphanages.
