Abstract Aesthetic With Antonella Aiassa

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm Antonela Aiassa, an artist who finds inspiration in the dynamic contrasts of life. Residing between Barcelona and Buenos Aires has infused my work with a unique blend of tranquility and vibrancy. My artistic journey is guided by a deep connection to nature and a passion for exploring the interplay between organic forms and contemporary aesthetics.
Living between two distinctive environments, how does this duality influence your creative journey and the themes you explore in your art?

Residing between Barcelona and Buenos Aires offers me a unique perspective on life and art. It allows me to explore a wide range of themes, from the tranquility of the Mediterranean to the dynamism of urban life. This duality influences my creative journey by inspiring me to embrace contrast and diversity in my artwork, creating pieces that reflect the beauty of both natural and urban landscapes. Through my art, I seek to convey a sense of harmony and balance, inviting viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of the world around them.

Your ceramics are described as contemporary odes to nature. Could you share more about how organic materials and natural hues inspire your work?

Utilising organic materials such as clay and ink, I embrace a meditative process in my artwork. My ceramics and abstract canvases embody this fusion, capturing the tranquility of the Mediterranean and the dynamism of Buenos Aires. Inspired by natural hues and forms, my work pays homage to organic materials and translates the beauty of nature into contemporary aesthetic narratives.

Can you discuss your approach to utilising minimalism in both your ceramics and abstract canvases? How does this aesthetic contribute to the narrative of your art?

Minimalism is a fundamental aspect of my artistic approach. In my ceramics, I employ a restricted color palette inspired by natural tones, creating visually rich and harmonious pieces that blend seamlessly with contemporary aesthetics. On canvas, I use organic black lines drawn with ink, influenced by Japanese nature drawings, to capture the complexities of nature and the simplicity of minimalism. This aesthetic contributes to the narrative of my art by evoking a sense of balance and serenity amidst the bustling energy of urban life.

Your abstract landscapes on canvas are said to capture the lively spirit of Buenos Aires. Could you elaborate on how you translate urban vibrancy into your artwork?

My abstract landscapes on canvas serve as visual interpretations of the vibrant energy of Buenos Aires. Through dynamic compositions and bold brushwork, I aim to convey the bustling atmosphere and lively spirit of the city. Drawing inspiration from the urban landscape, I infuse my artwork with a sense of movement and rhythm, capturing the essence of Buenos Aires in every brushstroke.
